The trout has been the toughest fish for me to catch. 1. Because I just suck at fishing. 2. Because they’re hyper aware and sensitive fish that have many nuances to catching them. So you can imagine how proud I am that the Eagle Lake Trout was my first. Eagle lake trouts are special because they’re one of the longest lived species of trout ever, the oldest recorded at 11 years old. Older than Bentley!! That fish must not be tasty tho. They’re a rare breed that has evolved to withstand the California drought and live in alkaline water. This was all worth the 6 hour drive.
